Bolsover Civic Society 

About Bolsover Civic Society:

  • Established in 1979 and open to all who wish to help improve Bolsover.
  • Monitors planning applications and developments within the town.
  • Acts in an advisory capacity to Town, District and County Councils through membership of the conservation Advisory Partnership Scheme.
  • Mounts an annual tree and bulb planting programme.
  • Funds projects such as the restoration of the Market Place village pump, the former congregational  Chapel stained glass window and the Smithson Memorial stone in the Parish Church .
  • Promotes the history of the town with publications such as the Town Trail and the New Bolsover Village Trail. Arranges guided walks by members of the Civic Society for groups of visitors to Bolsover.
  • Periodically exhibits old photographs and archives of the town taken from its extensive collection.
  • Organises an annual programme of visits and talks throughout the year.
