The Co-operative Group has announced the closure of its supermarket in Market Place, Bolsover on 28 June with the loss of over 30 jobs. Although bosses are continuing negotiations with a number of interested parties it seems unlikely that the store will be sold as a going concern. The reason for closure is given as its poor trading performance probably brought on by stiff competition from other supermarkets in the area. In total, 11 full-time and 21 part-time staff will lose their jobs although the company says it has offered redeployment to as many staff as possible.
