Description
Chatsworth House and Park.
Chatsworth House is the ancestral home of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been in their family, the Cavendishes, since 1549. It is one of Britain's best loved historic houses and attracts in excess of 650,000 visitors each year. The house is set in the beautiful countryside of Chatsworth Park which extends to around 1,000 acres.

There is something for everyone at Chatsworth: the grand rooms of the house contain fabulous works of art and treasures; the magnificent 105 acres of garden has sculptures, spectacular fountains, rare plants and trees, and a maze. If you wish you can take a walk around the magnificent park with miles of trails to choose from and where dogs on leads are welcome. Close by and well worth visiting is Chatsworth Farm Shop which sells a huge range of home produced and locally sourced food.

There are four gift shops which offer a wide selection of beautiful and exclusive products reflecting the different aspects of Chatsworth. And, when it's time to eat, whether you want a traditional three course meal, a freshly made sandwich, or tea and home-baked cake in the garden you can be sure of a friendly welcome and food of the highest quality. And for snacks on the go while you're busy exploring the stunning park and gardens, Chatsworth offers plenty of places to grab a quick bite.

If all that is not enough, every year Chatsworth hosts spectacular outdoor events, from International Horse Trials to the largest Country Fair in the country. There are also many other events taking place throughout the year from special themed weeks in the farmyard and food events at the farm shop, to "behind the scenes" days.
And let's not forget young visitors who will enjoy the Chatsworth farmyard where they can see a variety of animals and take part in supervised activities, and play in safety in the woodland setting of the adventure playground.chatsworth_shire_horses_farmyard_optimised.jpg
