New motorway junction 29A now open...
New motorway junction 29A now open...
Posted on Friday, 20 June 2008 02:43PM by
The new £8m Junction on the M1 near Bolsover is now officially open to traffic. Junction 29A will serve the new commercial and industrial site at Markham Vale. The Junction, which is to be completed over the next two years, consists of a series of connecting roads. Motorists are advised to take extreme care when using the junction until they become familiar with the layout.
The first commercial building on the site, Markham Vale Environment Centre, has already been opened and has units available for rent. Other new buildings are presently being considered for approval of planning permision. It's thought that up to 5000 new jobs may be created as businesses move onto the site.
The new junction was the brainchild of the MP for Bolsover, Dennis Skinner. who battled for a new junction in order to bring regeneration and much needed employment to the former coalfields blighted when the coal industry collapsed.
