Derbyshire County Council have a statutory responsibility to assess and cater for children and young people with special educational needs and work in partnership with schools and also provide specialist support services and facilities for a range of learning and behavioural problems, and for physical and sensory impairments. Some of these children attend mainstream schools, but a child who has a statement of special educational needs will attend a special school.
